The US is exporting its love of hard seltzers abroad, as the bubbly trend is growing in the UK.

Thanks to prominent brands like White Claw and Truly, hard seltzer is now the largest selling category of alcohol in the US. Its sales are larger by volume than the biggest spirits category- vodka.

Hard seltzer sales are expected to hit $2.5 billion in 2021. If trends continue, the market is expected to triple by 2023.

Analysts IWSR predict that by 2025 hard seltzers will represent the highest growth rate among ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktails in the UK.

A simple combination of alcohol and flavored bubbly water, hard seltzers have quickly taken global markets by storm. Many are naturally gluten-free and low in calories, sugar, and alcohol, making them a popular choice among the health and wellness crowd.

Typically spiked with fermented cane sugar or malt grains, distillers are starting to play with spirits in seltzer. Tequila, gin, and vodka are all becoming popular RTD options as the market continues to expand.
