Is your hard seltzer helping with the cause? We want to help spread the word.
In case you haven’t noticed the recent influx of pink, October is breast cancer awareness month. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, one in eight women (and one in 1000 men) will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
They add that “this year, an estimated 42,170 women will die from breast cancer in the U.S.” while a new case is diagnosed “every two minutes.” The World Health Organization reports that it is the most common cancer among women worldwide.
Hard Seltzer News is pleased to announce hard seltzer producers who are contributing in some way to Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Blue Norther Hard Seltzer
Hard seltzer makers Blue Norther are honoring the month by partnering with the Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC). Although the company is still in its infancy – Blue Norther hit store shelves on June 15 – it’s donating $2 from every case sold in October to the BCRC so consumers can “think pink while drinking blue.”
The Austin, Texas, based company was founded by a father and son team, Austin Pittman and Austin M. Pittman. As you may expect, Blue Norther Hard Seltzer is uniquely Texan and all three of its flavors have local ties. The beverage maker just introduced its third flavor, Prickly Pear, which joins Agave Lime and Wild Blackberry, made with blackberries from the Austins’ ranch.
Each flavor contains 110 calories, 4 grams of sugar, and five percent alcohol. Blue Norther Hard Seltzer is made using real fruit and organic agave. It gets its name from a regional meteorological phenomenon also known as a Texas Norther, which occurs when a fast moving cold front is accompanied by strong winds, a dark sky, and a rapid drop in temperature.
