The Atlanta-based ready-to-drink (RTD) canned cocktail company Tip Top just got a pretty sweet gig. Delta Airlines (NYSE: DAL) just announced that the drinks are now available as an in-flight option on all domestic flights.
Tip Top’s RTDs are a fantastic fit for Delta. The self-proclaimed “proper cocktails” can be enjoyed on the rocks or straight from the can.
Thanks to Tip Top, fans can be assured a properly mixed cocktail regardless of who is pouring it. Regardless of your origin or destination, and no matter how long your flight is delayed, you can be assured a consistently delicious drink is waiting for you on the plane.
As Delta is just starting to bring back more in-flight food and drink options, the premade RTDs offer legal-drinking age (LDA) passengers a more sanitary alternative to a mixed drink poured in the back of the plane.
“Our flight attendants are excited to continue doing what they do best – warmly welcoming, serving and connecting with the world’s best customers,” said Allison Ausband, senior vice president for In-Flight Service.
“These single-serve options are the first step in bringing back food and beverages even better as more customers return to Delta, and we’ve worked with our trusted partners at Mayo Clinic to ensure we safely serve these items as we continue to deliver on our promise of safer travel.”
Tip Top’s signature tiny cans will be available in their Margarita and Old Fashioned varieties. Each 100 ml. can costs $12, and contactless payment options will be available. Both strong pours, the Margarita clocks in at 26% ABV, and Old Fashioned at 37% ABV.
While masks will still be required in-flight, passengers are permitted to remove them when eating or drinking.
Joining Tip Top on the menu are 7.5 oz mini cans of Coca-Cola beverages, juices, and Starbucks coffee and tea, in addition to snacks like almonds, Clif bars, and Goldfish crackers.
Due to COVID-19 safety restrictions, for the past year passengers had received a small plastic bag containing a mini bottle of water, a small snack (like a Delta-branded Biscoff cookie), and a sanitizing wipe in lieu of on-board beverage or meal services.
At the beginning of April, the airline rolled out snack boxes for first class passengers, including items like protein bars, nuts, and dark chocolate. Delta plans to expand hot food options for select flights starting in early June.
Tip Top also offers a canned Negroni, Manhattan, Daiquiri, and the prohibition-era Bees Knees. The whimsical tiny cans, which feature a most sophisticated giraffe wearing a top hat and a monocle, are the perfect way to kick off – or wrap up – your vacation.
Those wanting to enjoy the conveniently compact RTDs on the ground can order directly from Tip Top’s website. An 8-pack of the mini 100 ml. cans costs $34.99.
With travel options starting to open back up, we can’t wait to fly the friendly skies with a Tip Top on our tray. Cheers to Delta for bringing back cocktails as safely as possible.
