Epic Brewing has already made a sparkling splash with its Pakkā Hard Seltzer, and it just introduced the perfect portable beverage for summer. Launched in April of this year, Pakkā set itself apart among seltzer makers by using real fruit as its main ingredient along with alcohol made from pure cane sugar. With its latest unique release, it seeks to further distinguish itself from other better-for-you alcoholic beverages: Hard Coconut Water.

Pakkā’s Hard Coconut Water contains five percent ABV and 99 calories per 12 ounce can. It contains only two grams of carbs and is gluten-free, but perhaps its biggest benefit is the hydration it provides.

With its high concentration of electrolytes, coconut water is a popular hangover cure for many people. Containing sodium, natural sugars, and more potassium than a banana, it is one of the most efficient ways to rehydrate yourself after a night of heavy drinking.

The only thing more effective is the proverbial hair of the dog – and Pakkā’s Hard Coconut Water contains both. The perfect beverage for brunch, Pakkā notes that you can enjoy Hard Coconut Water in the can, on the rocks, or as a mixer for your favorite cocktails.

“Pakkā is about more than hard seltzers; we’re about keeping you refreshed anytime and anywhere! Our Hard Coconut Water doesn’t just serve your taste buds. It’s the fun cousin of boring, non-alcoholic coconut water, with an added boozy bonus.” said Gus Erickson of Epic’s marketing department.

As a company, Pakkā is dedicated to creating craft hard beverages with a clean ingredient profile. Its Hard Coconut Water boasts a shockingly simple ingredient list; water, alcohol from cane sugar, coconut, and sea salt.

“Here at Pakkā Hard Seltzer Company, we’re imagining innovative ways to give the world simple, refreshing, boozy beverages that are naturally gluten-free and contain only real ingredients,” Erickson said.

Pakkā’s original hard seltzer is available in four flavors: Black Cherry, Cherry Lime, Grapefruit Tangerine, and Mixed Berry. Its available in six packs, variety 12 packs, and single cans. All varieties, including the Hard Coconut Water, are currently available year-round in Utah, Colorado, California, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania.

Epic Brewery itself has a history that lives up to its name. According to its website, Epic is “Utah’s first brewery since prohibition to brew exclusively high alcohol content beer.” They currently have taprooms in both Denver and Salt Lake City.

The brewery has had fun experimenting with coconut this summer, with delicious results. In addition to Pakkā’s Hard Coconut Water, Epic released Put the Lime in the Coconut IPA, an 8.5 percent ABV, limited run beer. Named after the iconic Harry Nilsson song, the coconut infused IPA is available in kegs and 16 ounce cans for you to “drank ‘em bot’ up.”

Next on Pakkā’s docket is a lower ABV Hard Coconut Water. With its penchant for clean and all natural ingredients, we’re excited to see where Epic Brewing and Pakkā Hard Seltzer go next.
