A big expansion is coming to the Trulyverse with another variety pack on the way. It will be Truly’s “Biggest flavor yet.”
Get ready for summer with the new Truly Punch Hard Seltzer.
The new take on Truly will be available in four fruity varieties: Berry, Citrus, Tropical, and classic Fruit Punch. Each 12 ounce can contains 100 calories, 1 gram of sugar, 3 grams of carbs, and 5% ABV. By comparison, Truly original hard seltzer varieties have 100 calories, 2 carbs, one gram of sugar, and 5% alcohol.
Truly Punch Hard Seltzer is a little sweeter than the original. Don Lane, vice president for the brand, describes the punch as Truly’s “biggest flavor yet.”
To underscore the adult version of the Punch drinks, Truly is including the statement “CONTAINS ALCOHOL” prominently on each can.
The punch pack is already available in certain northeastern outlets, and will be available nationally soon.
On heels of Other Truly Innovations
The rollout comes mere months after Truly’s most recent innovation – its Iced Tea Hard Seltzer, which was released in January of this year. Truly marked the occasion with the “Try January” campaign, a play on the sobriety month “Dry January.”
In exchange for agreeing to try the hard iced tea, legal drinking-aged consumers were invited to sign up to receive a free hat, fanny pack, or slim can koozie from Truly.
In March, the company expanded the release of its imperial version, Truly Extra Hard Seltzer
, nationwide after a successful trial in New York area markets. Living up to its name, Truly Extra contains 8% ABV compared to the original strength’s 5% alcohol.
Truly Extra is currently available in two flavors, unique to the Extra line – Black Raspberry and Peach Mango. Yet with more alcohol comes more calories; each 16 oz. can contains 220 calories, yet still only one gram of sugar.
“We saw an opportunity for a higher ABV product that had everything drinkers know and love about hard seltzer, without having to compromise on calories and sugar,” said Lane upon the release of Extra.
“With this release, we’re continuing to show drinkers that we’re not only listening, we’re delivering. Truly’s foundation is built on the belief that no one is just one flavor, which is why we’re expanding our portfolio yet again to offer options that suit anyone, any time, any place.”
The press release announcing the launch of Truly Extra claimed that the brand is growing 122% faster than its competitors, and with so many new options hitting the market, it is easy to see why.
Boston Beer Stock Keeps Rising
As a result, Boston Beer’s (NYSE: SAM) stock is surging, driven mostly by sales of Truly. In Q1 of this year, the company reported a profit of $65.6 million, more than tripling its profit of $18.2 million from Q1 of 2020.
“The recently launched Truly Iced Tea Hard Seltzer has accelerated Truly brand growth, which has more than doubled since last year,” said Dave Burwick, CEO.
The Boston Beer owned brand is truly becoming a force with which to be reckoned, spawning countless imitations of its innovative new seltzer blends. Both its iced tea and lemonade variety packs launched seltzer sub-genres as competitors scramble to release their own versions.
Will punch hard seltzer be the next variety to take the segment by storm? Just don’t get too punch drunk – remember to enjoy responsibly.
