Barcardi canned rum drinks

Bacardi’s Real Rum Canned Cocktails is expanding its portfolio – and doubling the number of available flavors in the process. Joining the ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktails are the new Bacardi Bahama Mama, Mojito, and Sunset Punch.

The Real Rum Canned Cocktails were first launched last year in three original flavors: Lime & Soda, Limon & Lemonade, and Rum Punch. All of the RTDs are made with real ingredients, natural flavors, and no artificial sweeteners.

As the name implies, the RTDs are in fact made with real rum, using Bacardi Superior as its base.

RTD Strategy for Growth

“The launch of BACARDÍ Real Rum Canned Cocktails last year far exceeded our expectations, and with the popularity of the Rum Punch flavor in particular, we wanted to expand our range with more full-flavored options,” said Lisa Pfenning, vice president for Bacardi North America.

“We have seen people consistently reach for canned cocktails this past year, whether they are looking for light, crisp serves like the Lime & Soda or something bright and fruity like the Rum Punch. As the world opens up again, we want to continue to enliven the moments where people can come together safely and celebrate with high quality cocktails in a convenient format.”

The RTD market has been booming over the past year. According to data from Nielsen, the spirit-based RTD market is up by 132% over the past year – with Bacardi forecasts up an impressive 150%.

New Varieties Bring Classic Recipes

Bacardi Mojito and Bahama Mama varieties are both available in four packs, featuring 355 ml cans with a suggested retail price of $12.99 per pack. The cocktails contain 5.9% ABV.

The Sunset Punch is currently only available as part of a variety six pack, which costs a suggested $16.99 per pack. In addition to the Sunset Punch, the variety pack also contains the Mojito and the OG Rum Punch.

“We’re confident that our new BACARDÍ Real Rum Cocktails will continue to appeal to discerning drinkers who are looking for high quality canned cocktails made with natural flavors and real ingredients,” said Maria Galis, marketing director for Bacardi North America.

“With the new variety pack offering the special Sunset Punch flavor, we’re especially pleased to offer consumers a range of irresistible flavors in one pack, no additional bar tools required.”

Crafted in response to the popularity of the original Rum Punch, the Sunset Punch features notes of blood orange, lemon, and ginger, which sounds like a perfect summer sunset in a glass.

Founded in 1862, Bacardi rum boasts the title of “world’s most awarded spirit, with more than 900 awards for quality, taste and innovation,” according to the company. While Bacardi Limited is headquartered in Hamilton, Bermuda, most of its rum is currently made in Puerto Rico.  US headquarters are in Coral Gables, FL.

Bacardi’s RTDs from Bombay Gin Unit

Bacardi Limited also produces Bombay gin, which in April released Bombay Sapphire & Tonic RTD cocktails.

“I am pleased to announce the latest addition to our growing portfolio, which hits shelves nationwide in April 2021. We’re extremely proud to say that we’ve created an RTD befitting the Bombay Sapphire name in terms of taste, quality and ingredients.” said Natasha Curtin, Bombay Sapphire’s Global Vice President.

The gin cocktail comes in two varieties including Bombay Sapphire & Tonic and Bombay Sapphire & Light Tonic, each sold in 4-packs. The light version contains 90 calories and zero sugar.

A History of Quality Bacardi Rum

Bacardi crafts its rum with care in order to ensure that it tastes the same today as it did when it was first distilled in the 1800s.
