A playful new canned beverage is hitting store shelves soon, combining two of the biggest drinks trends in recent years; WarRoom Cellars and Total Beverage Solutions have teamed up to introduce Bubble Butt Rosé Seltzer, a hard seltzer/rosé hybrid.

Aiming to be both cheeky and elegant at the same time, Bubble Butt is a fun yet luxurious canned beverage. With the slogan “Guess what? Bubble butt!” the brand aims to be sexy while not taking itself too seriously.

Its introductory video, which alternates between a woman with a seductive French accent describing the bubbly pink drink and club fueled EDM, aims to strike this balance. Even the seltzer’s cheeky logo, an upside down heart meant to look like the eponymous derriere, aims to be silly and sexy at the same time.

The rosé seltzer’s profile falls somewhere between a hard seltzer and a rosé wine. It contains 8.4 percent ABV, which is just about double the amount of the average hard seltzer, but lighter than your typical glass of wine (which typically falls between 11 to 12 percent).

Canned wines are experiencing a huge growth in popularity along with hard seltzers, illustrating how big of a gap existed in the market for conveniently portable beer alternatives. The canned wine segment is growing quickly, having nearly doubled since the onset of COVID-19 in March.

Bubble Butt represents a hybrid of several current trends: hard seltzer, canned wine, and rosé wine. They start with a wine base, using the California wine grapes Burger and French Colombard. However, the company makes a point to harvest the grapes at a lower sugar level than is typical for those varieties.

While most wine grapes are harvested at between 21 and 26 degrees Brix, Bubble Butt’s grapes are harvested at 16 to 17 degrees Brix. The Brix scale is a way of measuring sweetness, where one Brix degree equals one gram of Sucrose in 100 grams of solution.

The lower sugar level creates a “vibrant acidity and crisp and refreshing flavors,” according to the company’s press release. Adding seltzer to lower the alcohol while maximizing bubbles is the final step before canning, which creates “a superior sparkling profile.”

Evan Nelson, WarRoom’s director of sales, is excited about the product’s potential noting that it “combines three fast-growing categories – rosé wine, sparkling wine, and hard seltzer, and we’re canning it at super high carbonation levels, almost as much as Champagne.”

WarRoom Cellars’ effervescent partner, Total Beverage Solutions, is also optimistic. “We’re excited about the potential of such a fun and innovative brand,” said Matt Brown, senior brand manager.

A four pack of 250 milliliter cans retails around $13.99. Bubble Butt is currently available in Texas, Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Maryland, Delaware, Washington DC, Virginia, Minnesota, Washington State, and California. Keep an eye on Bubble Butt’s Instagram
