Hard Seltzer News has obtained information about the upcoming release of Bang Energy’s new hard seltzer.
The Miami-based company will release a new MIXX hard seltzer in 4 flavors, selling in both an 8-pack and 12-pack mix pack. Varieties include Frosé Rosé, Piña Colada, Purple Kiddles, and Strawberry Blast.
Frosé Rosé is an existing energy drink flavor formulation from Bang. It is described by reviewers on Amazon as a “super powered fruit punch” flavor, and “it reminds me of the box of nerds with grape & strawberry.”
The energy drinks have zero carbs and the 16-ounce can contains 300 mg of caffeine. No word yet on whether the Frosé Rosé hard seltzer will contain caffeine.
A unique ingredient to the Bang energy drink lineup is Super Creatine, the brainchild of Bang CEO and CSO (Chief Scientific Officer), Jack Owoc. The company describes the ingredient as a “dipeptide of creatine and L-leucine (creatyl-L-leucine), which, unlike other forms of creatine, is stable in liquid for an extended period.” Creatine is known to increase physical performance and strength enhancement.
In Keeping with Brand Strategy
The four varieties in the 12 pack of 12 ounce cans all contain 100 calories 5% ABV, a mainstream alcohol content for the hard seltzer category. While some brands push envelope on ABV, it is fitting that Bang would keep the buzz factor low, as its audience includes fans who focus on their body’s performance and appearance.
The Bang hard seltzers will be gluten free and contain natural flavors.
Troubles with Pepsi
The company recently attempted to end a newly-inked agreement with Purchase, N.Y.-based PepsiCo to distribute its energy drinks. Bang was unhappy and with the performance and publicly announced a divorce. A lawsuit was filed by Bang, and just this past week, an arbitrator ruled that Pepsi had the right to continue as exclusive distributor until the end of the agreements term, or October 2023. While seen as a victory in some news outlets for Pepsi, it’s unclear why the publicly traded conglomerate would want to continue a marriage with an unhappy partner.
Bang Energy’s sales of energy drinks have been somewhat volatile due to the coronavirus pandemic and associated social distancing ordinances. In the two weeks ending November 28, the company experienced a sales decline of 4% compared to the same period in 2019, while PepsiCo’s energy beverage sales volume, including its flagship Rockstar brand, declined 34%. Nielsen provided the data in the report.
