With the change of the season comes new options and opportunities. In this spirit, Bud Light Seltzer is introducing three new flavors just in time for fall. The “Remix Variety Pack” features Grapefruit, Pineapple, and Cranberry, in addition to original fan favorite Strawberry. Like the original four flavors, the new varieties all weigh in at 100 calories and five percent ABV.
Along with the new flavors comes a new spokesperson for Bud Light Seltzer, one who is already familiar with remixes – DJ Khaled. “Bud Light Seltzer is launching their new Remix Edition variety pack, so naturally they came to me to spread the word! With new flavors like grapefruit, pineapple, and cranberry, plus the OG strawberry, you gotta give them a try,” the DJ and spokesperson tweeted.
Although the original variety four pack was just released in mid-January, Bud Light Seltzer has quickly become a powerhouse for AB InBev. Its spiked and sparkling water became one of the country’s top-selling seltzers within the first month of its release. VP of marketing Andy Goeler calls it “largest and most successful innovation” in Bud Light’s nearly four-decade history.
“Bud Light Seltzer has quickly taken off and with our five-step filtration process, it’s proven to be one of the best tasting seltzers in the marketplace,” said Goeler. “This is our second variety pack that features three new, delicious flavors to further excite and attract more people to the seltzer category, while also providing established Bud Light Seltzer drinkers more flavors options to sip on during any occasion.”
Its success is apparent because AB InBev is expanding the Bud Light Seltzer label very quickly. Consumers looking for a higher ABV in their seltzers are in luck, because this month along with the Bud Light Seltzer Remix, AB InBev is also releasing three flavors under the Bud Light Platinum brand.
Like the beer for which it’s named, Bud Light Platinum Seltzer also boasts a higher alcohol content at eight percent ABV. Its inaugural flavor offerings include Blood Orange, Citrus, and Wild Berry. It will also be available in three different sizes; it will be sold in 16 and 24 oz. tall boys in addition to the standard 12 oz. skinny can.
AB InBev’s portfolio already includes a variety of popular seltzer brands, including Bon & Viv, Natural Light Hard Seltzer, and PBR’s high ABV Stronger Seltzer. To date, it has been one of the few adult beverage companies offering consumers a mass market strong hard seltzer via PBR and Bud Light Platinum, two brands that few would have expected to enter the hard seltzer space this time last year.
Although Big Beer sales declined in 2019 as consumer tastes ventured away from beer, Bud Light is still the country’s best selling beer brand. However, Bud Light is clearly making the most of these market changes and staying relevant through adaptation. Will we see more seasonal or holiday seltzer flavors released this fall and winter? Will you serve Bud Light Cranberry Hard Seltzer this Thanksgiving? The release of more blends remains to be seen, but the drinking public seems thirsty for more.
