Naturdays Frozen Icicles will launch nationwide Tuesday in two flavors, strawberry lemonade and pineapple lemonade. The new brand of spiked consumables comes in time for summer months from the brand team at Natural Light.
Frozen Icicles will be sold in 12-packs mixed with 6 each of the two flavors. They’re promoted as having an 8% ABV, as opposed to the 4.2% alcohol by volume content of Natty Light.
For those keeping score, you’d have to consume about 4 of the 2-ounce Frozen Icicles to equal the alcohol content of one 12-ounce can of Natural Light beer. We did the (higher) math: a 12-pack of Frozen Icicles equals 3 Natty Lights.
One can of Natural Light beer contains 95 calories, 3.2 grams of carbohydrates, and 4.2% alcohol by volume (ABV). The brand was Anheuser-Busch’s (NYSE: BUD) first widely distributed light beer, meant to compete with Miller Lite. It celebrates its 44th birthday in July of this year.
“We want to be the preferred alcohol brand — not just for beer — for drinkers between 21 and 30 years old,” said Daniel Blake, vice president of US value brands at Anheuser-Busch.
Natty Light is also launching its first-ever spirits brand lineup of flavored vodka sodas later this year. The varieties are expected to include lemonade, strawberry and black cherry flavors. Expect those to contain alcohol levels similar to that of a hard seltzer, or around 5% ABV.
The company was at one time working on a sour seltzer, but details have to be confirmed by representatives.
