Lone Star Brewing has launched Lone Star Agave Hard Seltzer in its home state of Texas. The brewery, owned by Pabst and located in Austin, promotes their hard seltzer as being inspired by local ingredients and familiar taste profiles.

“There’s a clear demand for quality hard seltzers, so we’re excited to break into the market with flavor profiles that are both refreshing and have an essential Texas quality to them,” Daniel Crawford, Lone Star Brand Manager, stated. Lone Star Agave Hard Seltzer is available in two flavors, Agave Lime and Agave Watermelon. The seltzer contains blue agave nectar and natural fruit flavors.

“This is a proudly Texas product, with locally minded ingredients for modern taste palates, perfect for all Texans who enjoy easy drinking beverages and socializing outdoors in our beautiful state. This is just the beginning of our Texas Seltzer exploration. We have some really fun flavors & concepts in the works,” Crawford said.

Lone Star Agave Hard Seltzer comes in 12 ounce slim cans and will be sold in 6-packs. Brewed with a sucrose base, each can contains 100 calories, 2 carbs and 1 gram of sugar. The seltzer has an ABV of 5%. A 19.2 ounce single-serving tallboy can is also available in the Agave Lime flavor. Agave lovers will find Lone Star’s seltzer to be a healthier alternative to a margarita which can often contain upwards of 300 calories and 30 grams of carbs for the same size serving.

Lone Star will be teaming up with Cowboy Pools, another Austin-based company, to market their new beverage. Cowboy Pools transforms classic galvanized steel stock tanks into tiny backyard pools. The brewer will be giving away and installing five stock tank pools. The giveaway program will begin in May and will be available at select retail locations in Texas as well as via Lone Star’s social media.

Agave hard seltzers are one of the newest trends to hit the seltzer market. Rapper Travis Scott successfully launched CACTI Agave Spiked Seltzer in March with first week sales outpacing those of heavy-hitter seltzer brands like White Claw and Truly. Hornitos and Más Agave both recently launched their own agave flavored hard seltzer lines and Molson Coors announced last month that Topo Chico Ranch Water is in the works.

Lone Star will be able to lean on their well-established beer line to help create brand recognition for their new seltzer. Lone Star Brewing might be new to the seltzer market, but the company has a long history in Texas.

Founded in 1884 by Anheuser-Busch’s Adolphus Busch and other investors, Lone Star Beer is known as “The National Beer of Texas.” The company currently produces five distinct brews including Lone Star Original, Lone Star Light, Lone Star Rio Jade, Lone Star Das Bier, and Lone Star 24/7. Parent company Pabst, which owns brands like , Stroh’s, Schlitz, and Colt 45, recently announced Pabst Blue Ribbon Hard Tea Seltzer as well.

Lone Star hopes it’s newest addition, Lone Star Agave Hard Seltzer, will follow in the footsteps of their successful line of beers and become a household name in Texas.
