Urban South Brewery hard seltzer

Urban South Brewery has added three tropical-inspired flavors to its Paradise Park hard seltzer lineup just in time for summer. The new flavors, which include Piña Colada, Aloha Punch and Passionfruit Orange Guava, are currently for sale in Urban South’s New Orleans taproom and will be available soon at alcohol retail locations throughout Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama.

The Piña Colada Hard Seltzer mingles pineapple and coconut flavors and is based on the classic cocktail.

Aloha Punch Hard Seltzer features the cherry, pineapple and tangerine flavors that might be found in a tropical rum punch.

Passionfruit Orange Guava Hard Seltzer is packed with beach flavors and, according to the company’s website, will “bring vacation vibes everywhere you go.”

The Louisiana-based brewery launched Paradise Park Hard Seltzers in November 2020 with three flavors including Lime Cucumber, Rocket Pop and Raspberry Limeade, which earned a silver medal at the 2020 US Open Beverage Championship.

All six flavors contain natural ingredients, no sugar, no gluten, and are under 100 calories per 12 ounce serving. The original flavors have an ABV of 3.6% whereas the new tropical flavors are only slightly stronger, coming in at 4.5%. The seltzers are sold in six-packs of individual flavors as well as two different twelve-can variety pack options featuring either the original or tropical flavors.

“Our goal with the Paradise Park Hard Seltzer line is to provide creative new flavors using real ingredients that are different from what is already flooding store shelves,” stated Urban South’s founder, Jacob Landry. “We spend a great deal of time on research and development for our hard seltzer line and our team is excited to introduce these new varieties to our customers.”

Urban South opened their New Orleans production facility and taproom in 2016. In February 2020 they opened an R&D brewery and taproom in Houston, Texas. The brewery prides itself on “combining the heritage of European beer making with the brashness of new American styles.” Their beers have won well over a dozen awards and come in unique flavors such as Snoball Juice IPA, Pop! Tangerine Sour, Holyroller Grapefruit IPA and Who Dat Golden Ale, which is named after a chant popular amongst New Orleans Saints football fans.

Urban South isn’t the only New Orleans brewery exploring hard seltzers. Zony Mash Beer Project started canning its Watermelon Spiked Seltzer in 2019 and now produces three additional flavors including Satsuma, Mango Guava Berry and Zony + Saba Pop.

According to the company, Urban South is “a place where charm and grit mingle, and where everything’s shared. Down here, we share meals, laughter, and our homes. And we love sharing our work with you. We’ve set the table for a pretty serious party, honoring modern Southern values with worthy and daring beers.”

It is always exciting to see breweries like Urban South expanding their product lines to include hard seltzers. With intriguing flavors like their new tropical varieties, there’s hope that Urban South’s Paradise Park Hard Seltzers will be a hit this summer and beyond.
