National Tequila Day is Saturday, July 24. Looking for a lighter way to celebrate? Check out these five spiked and sparkling tequila based options, conveniently canned for all of your outdoor fiestas.
Cutwater Tequila Margarita
The successful Cutwater line of ready-to-drink (RTD) canned cocktails was recently acquired by Anheuser Busch.
The company describes its Tequila Lime Margarita as “a San Diego take on a classic.” Crafted with real (not to mention award winning) spirits, Cutwater’s offering is one of the stronger options on this list at 12.5% ABV.
Looking to branch out from traditional lime? Cutwater also makes a Mango Margarita, Peach Margarita, and Strawberry Margarita, all made with its premium tequila. If the Margaritas are too strong for your taste, Cutwater also makes a fine tequila-based Paloma and Tequila Soda, both at 7% ABV.
Hornitos Tequila Seltzer
Hornitos, the iconic tequila brand owned by Beam Suntory, recently released its own tequila based hard seltzer. It is currently available in two flavors – lime and mango, which contain 112 and 114 calories, respectively.
The spiked seltzer is made with Plata Tequila so “you can take a shot, wherever the night takes you,” the company boasts. At 5% ABV, you can drink your tequila but keep the party going all weekend long. “We’ll raise a can to that, SALUD!”
Two Chicks Sparkling Citrus Margarita and Sparkling Paloma
The female-owned RTD company Two Chicks Cocktails
likes to say that they are “deliciously designed,” offering “all natural and gluten free, great tasting cocktails, all wrapped in gorgeous packaging.”
These cocktails are made with premium fruits and botanicals, and their cans are decorated with beautiful illustrations of their ingredients.
Both the tequila lemon lime cocktail and the tequila grapefruit cocktail contain 5% ABV per 12 oz can, yet Two Chicks advertises two servings per can. We won’t tell anyone if you keep both servings for yourself.
Ranch Rider Ranch Water and Tequila Paloma
A favorite local cocktail from West Texas has taken the RTD segment by storm – it wouldn’t be a tequila round up without a Ranch Water. Ranch Rider Spirits Co. offers the iconic drink made with three simple ingredients – Reposado tequila, sparkling water, and fresh squeezed lime juice.
Each Ranch Water contains 119 calories, half a gram of sugar, 1.5 carbs, and 5.99% ABV. Ranch Rider also sells a Tequila Paloma, although it is a tad heavier at 134 calories, 3.5 grams of sugar, and 5.8 carbs (although one has to appreciate their specificity).
Dulce Vida Sparkling Margarita, Paloma, and Watermelon Margarita
These RTDs are made with real juice, and at 12.5% ABV, they are also real strong. “Perfect for any occasion like a day at the pool, boat, or parking lot before the big game, our sparkling Ready To Drink Margaritas and Palomas give you a high-quality cocktail experience on the go,” says Dulce Vida.
“Made with real fruit juice and our Dulce Vida Blanco Tequila, you can rest assured you are getting a great cocktail using the best ingredients we can find.”
