Fabrizia, a family-owned spirits company based in Salem, New Hampshire, recently launched a ready-to-drink (RTD) Vodka Soda line. Known for crafting its flagship limoncello liqueur with 100% Sicilian lemons, Fabrizia may appear to be an unlikely contender in the highly competitive category of hard seltzer.
Up against category leaders such as White Claw and Truly, Fabrizia’s co-owners and brothers, Phil and Nick Mastroianni, set their products apart by leaning into the rich flavors and traditions of their family’s Italian heritage. The Mastroianni brothers’ commitment to producing quality products and perfecting family recipes from “the old country” helps Fabrizia to stand tall against industry giants.
Every year the company imports more than 500,000 lemons from a small Sicilian farm for their growing portfolio of products. Instead of boasting vague “natural flavors” like so many of its major competitors, Fabrizia produces its beverages with real, freshly squeezed lemon juice from Italian lemons.
Fabrizia’s canned Vodka Soda is produced in two citrusy flavors, Sicilian Lemon and Blood Orange. Each contains 100 calories, low sugar, and an ABV of 4.5%. The canned cocktails feature only three simple ingredients–sparkling water, real vodka, and fresh juice.
The company insists the Italian lemon juice in its Sicilian Lemon flavor produces “a unique unmatched flavor that you won’t find anywhere else.”
Fabrizia’s Other RTDs
For Fabrizia’s Blood Orange offering, the company promises “a hint of sweetness to every sip that balances perfectly with the vodka and soda.”
Fabrizia’s new Vodka Soda lineup is not the company’s first foray into RTD beverages. The beverage brand also produces three canned cocktails featuring their family’s award-winning limoncello and real spirits. The cocktails come in zesty flavors such as Italian Breeze, Italian Margarita, and Italian Style Lemonade.
The Italian Breeze flavor contains lemonade from Sicilian lemons, the company’s famous limoncello, real vodka, as well as cranberry and raspberry juice. Like the Italian Breeze, the Italian Margarita also contains fresh squeezed lemonade and Fabrizia Limoncello.
However, instead of vodka, the Margarita features real, premium tequila. Fabrizia’s Italian Style Lemonade is crafted with fresh lemon juice from imported Italian lemons, its own brand of limoncello, and real vodka. The company calls its Italian Style Lemonade “summer in a can.” All three flavors contain an ABV of 7% and are not carbonated. Instead, they are meant to be shaken before enjoying.
Fabrizia bottles Limoncello
Fabrizia also produces several bottled products including its signature limoncello, Fabrizia Blood Orange Liquere, Fabrizia Crema di Limoncello, as well as larger versions of its RTD Italian Style Lemonade and Italian Margarita offerings, made for sharing with friends.
Soon after a trip to Italy in which Phil Mastroianni reconnected with his culture and learned generations-old family recipes, the accountant quit his day job to pursue his newfound love for one of those recipes, limoncello. He enlisted the help of his brother, Nick, and in 2008 Fabrizia was born. Fabrizia’s bottled limoncello is now available in 18 states. It has become the leading limoncello brand in the country.
Fabrizia may be up against some of the biggest seltzer companies in the country, but the brand has a secret weapon. It is carrying the Mastroianni family’s history and legacy on its shoulders, which should be more than enough to take on any Goliath.
