Bang’s hard seltzer, MIXX, has found a manufacturing home near Douglasville, Georgia. The new $145 million manufacturing and distribution facility is slated for Georgia’s Douglas County.
Earlier this month, an application for a Wholesale Malt Beverage Distributor and a Malt Beverage Manufacturer License was submitted by the brand’s parent company, Quash Seltzer LLC, a unit of Bang. Quash’s application, which was approved this month, indicates the company intends to use its new facility for the production of its first hard beverage, MIXX Hard Seltzer.
“Bang Energy is making a significant investment in Douglas County. Bang Energy is excited to operate in a county and a state that laid out the red carpet for us and who value our brilliant partnership,” insisted Chief Executive Officer and Chief Scientific Officer of Bang Energy, Jack Owoc.
“We’d like to offer special thanks to Georgia Governor Brian Kemp for his personal attention, together with the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the Development Authority of Douglas County, and others too numerous to mention that have been phenomenally helpful,” Owoc continued.
The 644,000 square foot facility will be capable of producing upwards of 4,000 cans a day and will bring 600 jobs to Douglas County. The massive facility was originally intended to be used by The Coca-Cola Company as a production site for their Keurig Kold System pods. When Coke’s plans fell through, Bang Energy jumped at the opportunity to expand its production capabilities with its first Southeastern facility.
“Our new plant will feature the most state-of-the-art, fastest beverage and can manufacturing equipment in the world. More importantly, the ultimate beauty of this relationship is that we will be collectively helping others and improving the lives of the residents of Douglas County,” Owoc promised.
The state of Georgia is equally as excited about Bang’s commitment to area, “We have worked with our partners in Douglas County and at the Metro Atlanta Chamber for some time to find the right user for this building, and we are thrilled to welcome Bang Energy’s operations to Georgia with this sizeable job-creating investment in the state,” Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Pat Wilson stated in a press release last year.
The new facility location is advantageous for both the brand and its consumers. The manufacturing site will allow Bang to keep up with consumer demand for MIXX, and the facility’s prime location in the Southeast will make it easier to distribute the seltzer to retailers throughout the country.
“With customers across all 50 states and 80% of the U.S. market within a two-hour flight or two-day truck drive from Georgia, Bang Energy has found an excellent manufacturing and distribution location in Douglas County,” Commissioner Wilson explained.
Bang is owned by Weston, Florida-based Vital Pharmaceuticals, which produces many sports supplements as well as energy and performance beverages such as VPX, Noo Fuzion, Redline and Meltdown, among others. As of last year, Bang was the third most popular energy drink on the market by sales.
With hard seltzers surging in popularity during the pandemic, it is a strategic move for Bang to invest heavily in MIXX, a seltzer that brings with it built-in brand recognition in the beverage and lifestyle industry.
Health-conscious consumers are already familiar with Bang’s popular energy drinks. Now consumers will have an alcohol beverage option, made by a brand they know, that fits into their healthy lifestyle.
MIXX Hard Seltzer launched earlier this year in a 4-flavor, 12-can variety pack. MIXX’s flavors include Purple Kiddles, Strawberry Blast, Frosé Rosé, and Piña Colada. Each 12 ounce can contains 100 calories, no carbs and an ABV of 5%. Like Bang Energy drinks, the seltzers are enhanced with electrolytes. Unlike the seltzer’s energy drink sibling, MIXX does not contain any caffeine.
The Douglasville facility is expected to be staffed and operational by the end of 2023. Owoc is optimistic about Bang and MIXX’s future in Douglas County, “It is with great enthusiasm that I look forward to BRINGING THE BANG to the outstanding State of Georgia!”
