Coors Seltzer wants you to “enjoy a #creampopsummer.” The brand has launched a nostalgic new Orange Cream Pop flavored hard seltzer just in time for this summer’s record-breaking temperatures.

The brewer noted, “you’ll smell orange juice blended with sweet notes of vanilla ice cream before you even take a sip.” The Dreamsicle-inspired Seltzer is a limited edition release and will only be available through the summer months.

“Consumers are constantly on the lookout for new and exciting flavors, and we know that flavor is a top driver of sales,” said Matt Lafferty, Coors Seltzer’s Marketing Manager. “We wanted [to] make a bold flavor choice instead of leaning into an iteration of something on the market already.”

To remain competitive in the crowded seltzer market it is imperative for brands to differentiate themselves by producing unique and intriguing flavors that keep consumers coming back for more.

Coors Seltzer promoted the Orange Cream Pop seltzer on its social media earlier this week, with a post featuring a can of the new seltzer alongside a 12-pack in a lush outdoorsy setting. The caption read, “Enjoy the best summer all over again with the only hard seltzer that tastes as good as summer feels…”

The post quickly racked up plenty of love from fans eager to locate the new flavor. @imtoodrunkforthis insisted, “the moment I find [this], it will be my summer drink.” Commenters who had tried the beverage wrote positive reviews. @sentimentalstreet raved, “Tried them yesterday…they are a game changer!!!” and @bblanchette70 commented, I tried these this weekend, they were delicious.”

Fans are also uploading their own pictures featuring the insta-worthy seltzer cans, which are artistically adorned with images of a dripping orange cream popsicle.

“The frozen treat flavor of Coors Seltzer Orange Cream Pop is poised to be the must-try seltzer of the summer, when refreshment is most on the minds of drinkers,” said Lafferty.

Like all of the flavors in Coors Seltzer’s lineup, each 12 ounce can of Orange Cream Pop contains 90 calories, 2 grams of sugar and 2 grams of carbs. The seltzer has an ABV of 4.5%, which, for reference, is slightly more alcohol by volume than Coors Light beer’s 4.2%.

The new flavor can be purchased in 12-packs at alcohol retail locations nationwide. Coors Seltzer comes in four additional flavors including Black Cherry, Lemon Lime, Mango and Grapefruit and can be purchased individually or in a variety pack.

Coors Seltzer is truly a “seltzer with a mission.” The brand has partnered with Change the Course, an organization dedicated to water conservation. The company will work with Change the Course to help restore 500 gallons of river water for every 12-pack of Orange Cream Pop (or any of the other Coors Seltzer flavors) purchased.

Coors Seltzer isn’t the only ready-to-drink (RTD) beverage in Molson Coors’ repertoire. The company is also home to Vizzy Hard Seltzer and Proof Point Seltzer, which features real spirits and real juice. The alcohol giant also recently agreed to market, produce and distribute The Coca-Cola Company’s only alcoholic beverage, Topo Chico Hard Seltzer, as part of a US distribution deal. According to the company, Topo Chico Ranch Water is already being developed.

Molson Coors is investing heavily in hard seltzer. The company hopes to secure a 10% share of the seltzer market by the end of this year. Last month it dedicated $100 million to expanding its Canadian seltzer portfolio. In the US, the beverage company recently invested millions of dollars towards the admirable goal of boosting hard seltzer production by 400%.

Hard seltzers are the unofficial drink of summer so it’s not surprising that brands like Coors are launching products inspired by the season. Truly recently launched a limited edition line of boozy Lemonade Freeze Pops. Brands like Natural Light and Cutwater Spirits also have alcohol pops on the market. Although it is not actually frozen, Coors’ unique Orange Cream Pop seltzer flavor gives consumers a refreshing and creamy popsicle treat in a can.

Lafferty explained, “We think Coors Seltzer Orange Cream Pop is going to do more than stand out against the competition. People are going to see it and say, ‘I want to try that.’”  The company believes the new flavor will be a sweet success this summer.
